Dr. Alexay Tamas, DMD

About Dr. Tamas

I grew up in a small rural town in Illinois, where a strong sense of family and community shaped my early life and my desire to eventually serve communities that reminded me of home.

My path to dentistry began at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and worked as a dental assistant for a local group of dentists. With their encouragement and mentorship, I discovered a passion for dentistry and decided to pursue the profession myself.

I went on to complete my pre-dental studies and earn a second bachelor’s degree in biology from Utah Valley University. I then attended Roseman University of Health Sciences in South Jordan, Utah, earning my Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree in 2016.

After dental school, I spent nearly a decade leading a dental office in Oregon. Becoming a mother to my daughter made being closer to family and my Midwestern roots increasingly important, and I am now proud to call Michigan home.

Outside of dentistry, I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter. Family is an important part of my life, and I am excited to put down roots here in West Michigan.

At Advance Dental, I bring a gentle, compassionate approach to care and look forward to building lasting relationships with patients and families throughout the Grand Rapids community. I believe patients should feel comfortable, listened to, and genuinely cared for throughout their dental experience.
